dlitman@journeymh.com
Prior to working for Journey, Inc, David worked at the New York State School for the Deaf in Rome, NY as a school social worker. His duties involved working with families that have a child with hearing loss, coordinating group events, and working one to one with the deaf students. David received his BA from the University of Minnesota in 2002, majoring in Deaf Studies and Child Psychology. After completing his BA, he went to Gallaudet University where he received his MA in Social Work. David’s training emphasizes a strengths based and individualistic approach in therapy. All individuals have strengths that help them handle everyday life issues. Sometimes an individual loses their ability to identify their own strengths and David works with the individual to help them understand and use their strengths to cope with life events. David sees all clients with hearing loss, but has a special interest in working with families and also individuals that are late deafened. David has a lot of experience in working with clients that are battling depression, anger management, independent living skills, and identity.
